We have started this new year off running…. Noah’s Ark Jr. has added a few more new faces this last month. We welcome 6 new students!! They have fit in nicely!! This last month we have talked about penguins, winter, oceans, and Little Jack Horner. Noah’s Ark learned about winter, snow, and penguins. We experimented with ice and water and learned about amazing animals that God created perfectly to live in the cold Arctic regions. On our Faith Day we have started using a Veggie Tale curriculum. We all LOVE it. This curriculum really brings Bible stories to life for the preschoolers. This last month we have learned about Abraham and how much patience it took to wait upon God’s promise. We also have learned about Joseph and his brothers and we have begun the story of Moses. It hardly seems time, but I am opening up enrollment for next year for Noah’s Ark and Noah’s Ark Jr. Enrollment is open to the United Methodist Church family and current students starting Feb 1st. March 1st I will then open it up to the rest of the community. If you are interested in saving a spot for your child please stop by the office and pick up an enrollment packet from Crystal. Topaz |

This last month at Noah’s Ark has been busy, but a very exciting month. Noah’s Ark Jr. learned all about the nativity. We water colored, made Christmas ornaments, made a little baby Jesus, and talked about all of the animals that surrounded Jesus the night he was born. Noah’s Ark Jr. will start back up again on Wednesday, January 6th. Noah’s Ark has learned about Santa, The Gingerbread Man, Candy Canes, Advent, and the Nativity. Santa surprised us with a visit. Every child had a chance to sit on Santa’s lap and afterwards he shared a story with us. We have also learned that the real reason for Christmas is not all the toys, but instead that Jesus is the best gift!! We have also learned about the love of giving. We made cookies and cards and delivered them to people that help us out throughout the year. We are very thankful for Mina that “cleans up our messes”. On the last day of school we took a field trip to Wheatlands Nursing Home and shared some of our holiday cheer with the residents there. They sang “Jingle Bells”, “8 Little Reindeer”, “Away in a Manger”, and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and after they performed they greeted each person with a very Merry Christmas. Noah’s Ark Preschool will start back up again on Tuesday, January 5th. Topaz Krehbiel |

Happy Thanksgiving!! Noah’s Ark Jr. preschoolers have enjoyed the month of November by learning the Nursery Rhymes “Jack Jumped Over the Candle Stick” and “3 Little Kittens that Lost their Mittens”. They have watercolored, made necklaces, created their own crayon boxes, made Turkey Handprints, and glued Indian Corn. Noah’s Ark preschoolers ended their unit of “Fall” by creating Leaf Men, Leaf Animals, and even Leaf Aliens in our science center. Next, the students enjoyed the unit of “Our 5 Senses”. For the last few weeks we have been learning about our 5 senses and we will be ending out the unit this week as we talk about our sense of taste. As we have been getting ready for Thanksgiving, we have also been talking about everything that we are thankful for, especially for Jesus, our families, and food to eat. We collected food for the Food Bank and made Thankful Trees. On our faith day, we learned more about Moses and how he helped the Israelites out of Egypt and through the desert, how God gave him 10 rules we should live our lives by and what a tabernacle was. We made ornaments out of flour and salt, just like how the Israelites made ornaments, and pottery for the tabernacle. Noah’s Ark Jr. will be starting the second session on Wednesday January 6th. We have a few new students starting the second session, so if anyone is interested please contact the church office and get your paperwork in today!! God Bless, Topaz |

School has been flying by so fast!! As the saying goes, “Time flies when you are having fun”! In Noah’s Ark we have been learning about each other’s families. We learned that some families are big and some are small, but all of our families are full of love. Next, we learned about all kinds of different animal families and animal homes. Lions were one of our favorite animals and after learning about them, the Bible story “Daniel and the Lion’s Den” became even more remarkable. We were very excited to start our insect week where we looked up close at all kinds of insects and learned all kinds of amazing facts about them. Noah’s Ark Jr. has also been busy at work. We have made goldfish puppets, water colored fall leaves, put Humpty back together again, painted jack-o-lanterns, and made homemade cinnamon play dough. We are very thankful for two new types of technology that we have been able to bring into the classroom. First, we have our new computer up and running and the kids are enjoying all kinds of fun and educational games. Second, we have begun using the projector in the Fellowship HJall. We now can view all kinds of different videos and activities by hooking my laptop up to the projector. We can watch a video clip showing all the workings of a beehive or a clip showing a baby penguin being born. We use the projector for both Noah’s Ark and Noah’s Ark Jr. and the kids get very excited when they get to watch something on the “Big Screen”. A couple of times a month we look forward to visits by Brandi Mertens our Family Services Advocate (provided to us through the PreK program grant). Brandi has been talking with the students about feelings and how we feel them with our whole bodies. Brandi is an essential part of the PreK grant program and helps bridge the gap between school and home. God Bless, Topaz |

Happy Fall!! On Wednesday, September 9th the Noah’s Ark Jr. class began by making apples. The students in the three year old class are…Jadyn Belt, Gracee Harrel, Brookelyn Henning, Brenden Horn, Avery Mertens, and Chase Webster. So far this year we have learned about apples, butterfly’s, and dinosaurs. One of the favorite books we read this month was “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”. The Noah’s Ark Preschool Class has been very busy this month. We have learned about how to stay safe and what to do if we ever got lost. We welcomed the police department to Noah’s Ark this year were they did the new SafeAssured Program. They set up on the 3rd floor and worked with every child individually to develop their own SafeAssured mini-CD. Each mini-CD stores all ten electronically imaged fingerprints, digital photograph, streaming video showing mannerisms and gait, linked audio file for voice recognition, general personal description, and personal family information. We so appreciate the police department for coming and spending the afternoon with us!! We were also happy to have Lisa Long and Stephanie McKennon from the Kingman County Extension Office come show us about the right way to wash our hands. They used a special lotion and a black light that showed “pretend” germs on our hands. Then all the kids went and washed their hands correctly and looked back under the light to see how many “germs” were left behind. What an exciting way to teach kids the importance of washing their hands properly. This month we have also incorporated the Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum, provided by grant funds, by learning how to draw our bodies. On our Faith Day, we have discovered that God chooses us regardless of what we look like or how we dress or how old we are. We also learned that God loves us all and he is always there to listen to our prayers! Open House was held on Wednesday, September 23rd, a wonderful turnout of family and friends came to listen to both classes perform their songs. Afterward all the children were VERY excited to show their families around their classroom and introduce them to all their new friends. It was wonderful to see the children get so excited about what they have been doing so far in preschool! God Bless, Topaz |
