Noah's Ark
Noah's Ark News PDF Print E-mail

This month in Noah’s Ark Jr. we made our parents a “handful of love” valentine, talked about all the

wonderful colors of the rainbow, talked about how to take care of our teeth, went on a shape hunt, and popped around like popcorn.  We now have a full class in Noah’s Ark Jr. with 14 students!!

In Noah’s Ark we had a wonderful Valentines Party full of candy and games.  What better time for a field trip to Dr. Davis dentist office than right before we eat lots of candy!!  We are very thankful for the opportunity to see all of his equipment, sit in the dentist chair, and explore models of teeth.  We also learned about Humpty Dumpty and had a blast doing different science experiments with eggs. We learned about the Winter Olympics and about different countries and their flags then each preschooler created their own unique flag.

During our faith day we have been learning about Joshua and the Battle of Jericho and the story of Gideon.

Starting March 1st we will begin open enrollment for Noah’s Ark & Noah’s Ark Jr. for the 2010/2011 school year.  Pick up an enrollment form from Crystal in the church office if you are interested in either program.  Space is filling up quickly so get your enrollment

information in as soon as possible.

*Snacks

Snack time is a great learning experience for all the children, especially in patience and manners. Therefore, we will have a simple, mid-afternoon, nutritional snack. The grant requires that healthy snacks be provided such as fruits, veggies, cheese/crackers, peanut butter, etc. On snack day, your child has the opportunity to help serve the snack, which makes him/her feel very important and special. There will be a pre-assigned list of snack helpers handed out the first day of school (birthdays will be taken into consideration as to when your child will be scheduled). If you need to trade a snack week, please let us know ahead of time. Drinks and napkins are provided by the school. Please speak to us about any food allergies your child has.

*Illness Precautions

If your child appears ill in the morning or is running a fever, we would appreciate your cooperation by keeping them home to prevent the spread of infection. All will benefit from this added precaution. Please contact us to let us know if your child will be absent, thank you!

*Outdoor Play

Because of the value of outdoor play and fresh air, we will be going outside to our sand playground unless it is raining, snowing or extremely cold. Please have your child wear sufficient outer clothing and comfortable shoes to school. Please label caps, hats, gloves, mittens, coats, etc. so stray clothing can be given back to its owner.

*Inclement Weather

If USD 331 cancels school due to the weather, school will not be held at Noah’s Ark.

*Discipline

Any necessary discipline will be constructive and educational in nature and appropriate to your child’s age and circumstances. No child will ever be isolated, subjected to any form of physical punishment, excessively restrained or subjected to harsh words or humiliation. If necessary, a timeout period or forfeiture of a privilege will be used as a form of discipline.

Parents will be notified if harmful physical or uncontrollable, disruptive behavior is exhibited. If such behavior continues, possible dismissal could occur.

*Health Assessments

Since Noah’s Ark is a licensed facility, the attached Health Assessment form needs to be filled out and signed by either your family doctor or by the County Health Department.

· If your child attended Noah’s Ark Jr., we already have their Health Assessment on file and do not need a new one.

· If your child is going to a licensed daycare, make a copy of their Health Assessment for our files and update any immunizations.

· If your child has seen your family doctor within the last 6 months, your doctor should be willing to fill out the Assessment without charging you for another appointment.

The Emergency Release form also needs to be completed. Do not have it notarized.

Please send the Health Assessment and the Emergency Release Form with your child on the first day of school. By law, we need to have these forms in our files before your child is allowed to attend preschool.
